China in the Classics
China in the Classics is a promotional graphic design created for a television program about ancient Chinese classics. Books form the main subject of the design. Ancient books of the East and the West are referenced, including Chinese bamboo slips, thread-bound books, parchment scrolls and hardcover books. These forms are deconstructed and reorganized into simple visual symbols. The titles of ten classics are combined with Chinese calligraphy. The gift box uses special tactile paper. The design helps people of different cultural backgrounds understand Chinese books and stories.
China in the Classics Cultural Program by Zhou Haiwen, Che Shilong and Guo Cheng was identified as a creative representation of communication design by the A' Design Awards. China in the Classics Cultural Program received the Bronze A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2024. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade that honors superior design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
